Tyco Fire & Security UAE has been awarded the security contract for Abu Dhabi's Louvre Museum on Saadiyat Island.  The Local Contractor was awarded the 'specialist security contractor" package via a consortium led by Arabtec, who won the tender in January 2013 to build the museum.

ASOLOUVREJV, a joint venture between Arabtec, Constructora San Jose and Oger Abu Dhabi awarded the work to Tyco UAE after a series of pre-qualification and live demonstrations to showcase their integrated security solutions.

The 64,000 square meter museum has been designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel as a complex of pavillions, plazas, alleyways and canals, evoking the image of a city floating on the sea.  Hovering over the complex will be a 180-metre wide dome perforated with interlaced patterns, which will allow light to filter through.

The project, which is being developed by Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), the master developer of major tourism, cultural and residential desinations in Abu Dhabi, is currently scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015.

"This is a great opportunity to provide an advanced solution in the form of the latest state-of-the-art security systems in order to protect this internationally famous museum," says Mark Roberts, Tyco UAE's General Manager.

The contract followed a competitive tendering process and Tyco Fire & Security UAE's win was supported by the work the company has done, and still does, on mega projects such as Khalifa Port and Dubai Airport.
